 - WORK IN PROGRESS…

Have you ever experienced God calling you to do something that you didn’t feel naturally good at? Yeh, well, writing is that for me. I do enjoy it, but it has been a major challenge for me to deliver in written form, what The Lord is teaching me in a way that resonates with my readers. But nothing should stop us from what God is calling us to do. I have always had a passion for encouraging others to grow spiritually.

At a young age, I felt God leading me to be a teacher, and although I liked to journal and write poetry for myself, I never thought much about sharing my writing. Isn’t it much easier when God moves us toward things we actually feel like we are good at? I’m obviously better at teaching and talking…uh… speaking than writing because I’ve had a ton of practice!

Growing up with four other females accelerates the need to not only talk more but louder if you expect to be heard. My dad just preferred not saying much. By living in the country, we never got cited for disturbing the peace (at least not by the police)!

Growing up on a ranch gave me a rare opportunity to hone my speaking skills to a varied audience of both domestic and exotic animals. They were some of the best crowds I’ve ever had the privilege of gabbing to. After all, you can’t beat the non-threatening, no sass atmosphere, and the added sound effects were pretty cool. (See my funny fiascos page to read more about growing up ranch style.) What a unique practicing ground for the future God had in store for me in teaching and speaking which by God’s design also led to writing!

God’s ways are not our ways, but we can trust His ways will always lead us in the right direction. Being humble, obedient, and moldable is NOT easy! But through it all… in every area of my life…I’m still… we all are… HIS works in progress and He will give us the power to fulfill His purpose just as Philippians 2:13 promises.

Scripture:

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him,  rooted and built up in him and established in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Colossians 2:6-7
